Merging Architecture and Nature into one
Share
For years now I have thought of merging Architecture and Nature together but if someone was to buy a diorama, how would they display it?” I mean its easy to imagine a free standing diorama on a plinth standing on a desk or by the side of your computer but taking up space like this limits the potential of a purchase, most people who look for art are imagining wall mounted art. so Wall mounted art…… This now limits how deep the project will go, I cant create pertruding objects which sticks out especially when we’re talking about buildings incorporated as a main feature. excitingly this forces the idea of the buildings having to be lying down in the ground overgrown by vegetation. Adding more imagination and creativity i can incorporate part of the concept to have an interesting shape or a silhouette built in to the piece.
I have made quite a few buildings in my time but not yet gone down the old Arabic architecture route, this general idea could work for any style but going down the arabic rout adds a fresh challenge for me. If vegetation is important in this project, which it is, then researching some of the best nature and scenery from the middle east is key, i will have to put viberent and moist greens Ive been so used to going for in the back seat and look into oases, deserts and other arabic ecosystems. exciting. Not only this, i now get to look into ancient arab buildings and any civilisation that may have left their footprint for me to suss out some unique buildings with a sense of skilfull design and history, this is also will be an amazing research session remember when I mentioned about “an interesting shape or silhouette”? here comes the magic which I hope will set my art up, in my opinion as really unique. The silhouette of Salahuddin the great Sultan of Syria and egypt, possibly another famous character or even some typical arabic designs and shapes embedded in the concept of architecture and nature.
There is a famous oasis in arabia called AlUla.
